The I Am Warrior Magazine is based off The Queens group on Facebook, which was founded by Sharika Sukhu Govender.

The I Am Warrior Magazine and The Queens group go hand in hand as they are both platforms of women empowerment. Sharika wanted to create an intimate circle where females can gather together for the soul purpose of uplifting and encouraging one another. The Queens Group is the catalyst of the I AM Warrior Magazine and was envisioned by the administrative team of The Queens Group.

This magazine primarily features the ordinary woman. It is an initiative to empower women from all walks of life regardless of their status, qualifications, age, race or education. The magazine seeks to give all women a platform to share their life story, trials as well as celebrations. Both the Group and the Magazine have the same principles, values, beliefs and goals. This summed up in the notion of women empowering women.

Like Mother Teresa once said, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples.”

Being the founder and creator of The Queens Group and the I Am Warrior Magazine is one of my dreams that came true, claims Sharika. After creating The Queens group, I got the idea to create a platform for South African women to share their stories and promote their businesses.

Every woman has a chance in the spotlight, the magazine offers so many ways for women to share their stories and encourage others. The magazine offers free advertising to all female owned businesses and much more. We are purely a voluntary association in the process of registering as a Non Profit Organisation and rely mainly on the donations of people and the odd paid advertisements. Some of our initiatives include offering free advertising to small business owners who cannot afford the luxury of paid advertising. The magazine provides in each monthly issue; legal and business advice, fashion and beauty tips, recipes and inspirational stories form various women nationally and internationally and more.
